Chimay Red, or “Premier”, was the first beer brewed at the Notre-Dame de Scourmont Abbey by the Trappist fathers in 1862 . A dark copper coloured dubbel with a sweet, fruity aroma. It is a genuine Trappist product, strictly adhering to the Trappist rules. It is a top fermented copper coloured beer, refermented in the bottle, and is not pasteurised. Chimay Red displays fruity apricot characters, with a light, slightly bitter flavour.
