Description
Joseph Colin, Saint-Aubin, ‘Mes Sept Terroirs’
Joseph Colin joined his father Marc at their family’s venerable estate in 1993 at the age of 19. When his older brother, Pierre-Yves, left in 2004 to start his domaine with wife Caroline Morey, Joseph became the lead decision maker in the vineyards and cellar. in 2017 Joseph took his 25 years of experience and about 6 hectares of prime parcels from the family domaine to create his own label and domaine. Though technically a brand new estate, the generational knowledge combined with old vines in top terroirs help to rocket Joseph Colin to the top tier of white wine producers in Burgundy.
This village cuvée features fruit from the 7 parcels that Joseph farms, hence the Sept Terroirs. Meant to be a perfect snapshot of the village and vintage, Sept Terroirs is fermented and aged in neutral 500 liter barrels. 2021 was a challenging and very small vintage, but the quality is off the charts. With verve and structure that hasn’t been seen since 2014, this is a delicious rendition full of citrus blossoms, orchard fruit, quince, juniper and green peppercorn. Serve at 50 degrees in a Burgundy stem with roast chicken or grilled fish. Drinking window from now until 2028.
