Description
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, Hermitage Blanc
This is one of the most powerful and prestigious white wines in existence.
As one drives north through the Rhone valley toward Burgundy, the hill of Hermitage dominates the horizon. This towering granite hillside looms over the small village of Tain and is world-renowned for producing deep, timeless, and infinitely cellar-worthy Syrahs. Not to be overlooked are Chave’s Hermitage Blancs that can age gracefully as a Grand Cru White Burgundy.
The 2020 showcases Marsanne in all of its greatness. Full-bodied, rich, ripe, and unctuous notes of grilled pineapple, quince paste, glazed apricot, orange marmalade, caramel, honey, dried chamomile, lemon curd, wax, baking spice, and a touch of almond skin. This is an intense and unabashedly full-bodied Hermitage Blanc oozing with dried and waxy orange-yellow fruits that are propped up on a surprising backbone of acidity.
