Description
Las Estelas, Malbec “Finca Mangato”
At the beginning of the 1940s, Estela Perinetti’s grandfather purchased Mangato vineyard, a 64-acre parcel located in Tupungato to produce Semillón, he named it Finca Mangato. A few decades later, her father, Héctor A. Perinetti MD, planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Estela and her mother choose the stoniest and highest (1300 meters) lot to produce the first Malbec of the vineyard, the one that broke with the tradition. This 100% Malbec is aged in French barrels for 10 months with only 20% aged in new wood. The fruit, purity, and mineral drive really shines through with the judicious use of oak. Textbook Malbec with its saturated dark hue and black and blue fruited core. Pungent aromas of black fruits meld with licorice, crushed rock, dark chocolate, and violets. It’s a seamless and creamy package that accentuates a savoriness along the lines of umami. The finish is elegant with a kiss of dusty tannins and toasty oak to keep the core fruit in check. This is a no-brainer with grilled meats. Viva Argentina!
